Stored XSS via unsanitized image descriptions
Published Nov 25, 2024 · Updated Nov 25, 2024
Stored XSS in NextGEN Gallery before 3.59.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through an image Description field. The image editor stores the Description value without sufficient sanitization or output escaping, and a NextGEN Gallery block later renders it into an embedded gallery. Administrator-level access is required, and script execution occurs when another user clicks the crafted image; the flaw remains reachable when unfiltered_html is disabled.
