Authenticated code execution via unsanitized shortcode template
Published Aug 21, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Server-side template injection in OnTheGoSystems WPML Multilingual CMS 4.6.12 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The language-switcher shortcode callback passes attacker-controlled content to WPML_LS_Public_API::render, which stores it as template_string and renders it as unsanitized Twig. Contributor-level post-editing access is required; crafted Twig filters can invoke PHP callbacks and run commands with the web server process privileges.
