CVE-2024-6323Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Private repository disclosure via search count oracle

Published Jun 26, 2024 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Authorization bypass in GitLab EE 16.11 before 16.11.5, 17.0 before 17.0.3, and 17.1 before 17.1.1 allows remote attackers to read private code. The /search/count endpoint includes matches from private repositories inside public projects, creating a search-hit oracle that reveals matching content character by character. Exploitation requires a public project containing a private repository, but requires neither authentication nor user interaction and does not modify repository data.
