Arbitrary file upload via forged administrator request
Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Praveen Rajan Attachment File Icons 1.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to upload arbitrary files. The afi_overview function omits nonce validation, while upload_icons accepts uploaded content without validating its file type. Exploitation requires an administrator to submit the forged request; the confirmed consequence is an arbitrary server-side file write, with code execution dependent on server handling.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
