Information disclosure via searchable redacted events
Published Jun 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Incomplete cleanup in Conduit before 0.8.0 allows remote attackers to infer strings in redacted Matrix events through search requests. The event-search path returns redacted PDUs as matches against their pre-redaction content instead of excluding those events from results. No privileges or user interaction are required, and the consequence is limited to confirming whether chosen strings occurred in content that was later redacted.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
