Privilege escalation via inherited BASH_ENV script
Published Jun 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper privilege management in Parallels Desktop before 19.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to escalate privileges via BASH_ENV. Application startup passes the attacker-controlled BASH_ENV value to Bash, which sources and runs the referenced script with elevated privileges. Exploitation requires low privileges and a user-triggered application start; successful execution grants higher system privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
