Unrecoverable controller fault via invalid CIP request

Improper input validation in Rockwell Automation Logix controllers and Logix Echo allows remote attackers to cause an unrecoverable fault. The affected device fails to validate an invalid, specially crafted CIP request and enters a major nonrecoverable fault state. Exploitation requires chaining CVE-2021-22681; recovery requires a controller download that stops running processes and disconnects attached devices.
