Stored XSS via unescaped API key setting
Published Jul 31, 2024 · Updated Jul 31, 2024
Stored XSS in WANotifier for Forms and Actions before 2.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to run script via the API key setting. The settings handler stores an API key containing an injected HTML attribute and event handler without sanitizing it, then renders the value without escaping when the settings page loads. An administrator or comparably privileged user must submit the setting, and another user must view the page; the script runs in that viewer's browser even when unfiltered_html is disabled.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
