SYSTEM code execution via symbolic-link file deletion
Published Jun 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Link-following in Poly Plantronics Hub 3.25.1 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code as Windows SYSTEM. The Spokes Update Service follows an attacker-created symbolic link while performing a privileged file deletion, allowing deletion outside the intended path. Low-privileged code execution on the Windows host is required; successful exploitation grants SYSTEM execution and full host control.
