CVE-2024-6142

Adjacent unauthenticated code execution via unchecked buffer copy

Published Jun 18, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Buffer overflow in Actiontec WCB6200Q 1.2L.03.5 allows remote attackers on an adjacent network to execute arbitrary code. The uh_tcp_recv_content HTTP-server routine copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length buffer without first validating its length. A reachable adjacent-network HTTP service is sufficient, and successful exploitation runs code in the HTTP server's context with no user interaction.
