Unauthenticated file deletion via unchecked history paths
Published Jun 27, 2024 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Path traversal in GaiZhenbiao ChuanhuChatGPT before 20240918 allows remote attackers to delete JSON files through the web interface. The delete_chat_history function accepts a client-controlled filename as history_file_path and passes it to os.remove without verifying that its directory matches the active user. No authentication or user interaction is required; deleting authentication JSON or other application data interrupts service and can erase other users' chat histories.
