CVE-2024-6079

Local code execution via writable shared libraries

Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024

DLL hijacking in Rockwell Automation Emulate3D 17.00.00.13276 allows local users to execute code through a malicious library. The application loads shared libraries from a location whose files are readable and writable by any user, allowing a planted DLL to replace trusted code. Exploitation requires low local privileges and active user interaction, and successful loading executes attacker code in the application's context.
