Process crash via stale XMT descriptor link
Published Jun 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Use-after-free in MP4Box's XMT loader in GPAC 2.5-DEV-rev228-g11067ea92-master allows local users to crash MP4Box with a crafted XMT file. xmt_node_end frees an invalid descriptor without removing every link to it, and xmt_resolve_od_links later reads the stale descriptor pointer. Exploitation requires local execution of MP4Box against the crafted input; the demonstrated consequence is an AddressSanitizer-detected process failure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
