Local service crash via null stream dereference
Published Jun 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Null pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 2.5-DEV-rev228-g11067ea92-master allows local users to crash the process via a crafted MPEG-2 TS file. In m2tsdmx_on_event, SCTE-35 event handling dereferences pck->stream->program without first verifying that the packet has an associated stream. A local user must cause MP4Box to parse the crafted file; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
