CVE-2024-6061Public exploit

Media-processing hang via unbounded sample retries

Published Jun 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Infinite loop in MP4Box in GPAC 2.5-DEV-rev228-g11067ea92-master allows local users to hang media processing via a crafted MP4 file. In isoffin_process, incomplete sample fetches keep retrying because isor_reader_get_sample resets nb_empty_retry and an invalid channel remains marked as playing. The attacker must run MP4Box against the malformed file; the observed consequence is a repeated fetch loop that consumes processing time without altering data.
