Unauthenticated chatbot settings modification via unprotected AJAX handlers
Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Cliengo – Chatbot 3.0.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to modify chatbot settings through AJAX requests. The update_chatbot_token and update_chatbot_position handlers accept unauthenticated AJAX requests and update stored options without capability checks. No account is required; changing the token or widget position can alter the deployed chatbot or interrupt its availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
