Arbitrary file upload via history path traversal
Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Oct 29, 2024
Path traversal in GaiZhenbiao ChuanhuChatGPT before 20240918 allows remote attackers to upload arbitrary files through chat history import. The load_chat_history function joins an untrusted upload path to the history directory and copies it without verifying either resolved path stays inside that directory. No authentication or user interaction is required; attacker-chosen file writes can alter or interrupt the service and enable code execution.
