Unauthenticated instructor access via unchecked registration role
Published Jul 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
Privilege escalation in StylemixThemes MasterStudy LMS before 3.3.24 allows remote attackers to create accounts with Instructor access. The stm_lms_register AJAX endpoint accepts the become_instructor flag during unauthenticated registration without enforcing role restrictions. A course page must expose a valid registration nonce, after which the new account gains instructor-only course-management functions.
