CVE-2024-5924Network attack vector

Code execution via missing Mark-of-the-Web on shared files

Published Jun 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Mark-of-the-Web bypass in Dropbox Desktop 198.4.7615 allows remote attackers to execute code through a synced shared-folder file. Shared-folder synchronization writes files from an untrusted account to local storage without applying Windows Mark-of-the-Web metadata. Exploitation requires the current user to open the synced file or visit a malicious page, after which code runs with that user's privileges.
