CVE-2024-5915

Local privilege escalation via writable installation contents

Published Aug 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 20, 2024

Incorrect permissions in Palo Alto Networks GlobalProtect App for Windows allow local users to execute programs with elevated privileges. The installation directory permits non-administrative users to modify its contents, allowing privileged app execution to run attacker-controlled programs. A low-privileged local account is required; successful exploitation gains elevated code execution on the Windows endpoint.
