Local protection disablement via undisclosed mechanism
Published Jun 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper privilege management in Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR Agent on Windows allows local users to disable endpoint protection. Palo Alto Networks has not published the affected protection mechanism or the operation that accepts low-privileged input. A low-privileged local Windows account is required; successful exploitation stops the agent's protections and permits subsequent malicious activity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.9-CE <7.9.102-CE changes=[{"at":"7.9.102-CE","status":"unaffected"}]
