CVE-2024-5852Network attack vector

Authenticated arbitrary file placement via unrestricted upload path

Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Path traversal in Iptanus File Upload 4.24.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to place limited files outside wp-content. The wordpress_file_upload shortcode accepts an uploadpath value without enforcing that the resolved destination remains beneath the site's wp-content directory. Contributor-level access and a reachable upload shortcode are required; exploitation writes only file types accepted by the plugin to attacker-chosen server paths.
