Authenticated server crash via line-offset slicing
Published Jul 18, 2026 · Updated Jul 18, 2026
Uncaught exception handling in SurrealDB before 1.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash the server with malformed queries. The span-location renderer slices a source line at an error byte offset even when that offset falls inside a line terminator and exceeds the line length, triggering a Rust panic. Any client authorized to run arbitrary SurrealQL can interrupt the database service; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
