Cross-database impersonation via stale scope authentication
Published Jul 18, 2026 · Updated Jul 18, 2026
Improper authentication in SurrealDB before 1.5.4 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate a scope user in another database. The USE clause and use method retain the original $auth record identifier while changing databases, then resolve it in the new database without revalidating the identity. Exploitation requires matching explicit or incremental record identifiers and permissions relying only on $auth; system users are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
