Open redirect via insufficient redirect-target validation
Published Apr 1, 2026 · Updated Apr 1, 2026
Open redirect in XenForo before 2.2.17 and 2.3.1 allows remote attackers to send users to external sites via crafted URLs. The getDynamicRedirect() method in src/XF/App.php accepts redirect and referrer input but does not consistently reject embedded credentials or mismatched hosts. A user must trigger the affected redirect flow; exploitation moves the browser to an attacker-chosen site, enabling phishing or credential capture but not direct server compromise.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
