Root shell escape via traceroute command injection

Published Dec 30, 2025 · Updated Dec 30, 2025

OS command injection in Ateme Flamingo XL 3.2.9 allows remote authenticated users to gain root access through the traceroute command. The restricted login handler forwards traceroute arguments containing shell metacharacters to a root shell instead of rejecting them. Administrative SSH credentials are required to reach the jailed command interface; successful exploitation escapes the sandbox and grants complete device control.
