CVE-2024-5830Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Renderer-sandbox code execution via stale map transition

Published Jun 11, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Type confusion in V8 in Google Chrome before 126.0.6478.54 allows remote attackers to execute code in the renderer sandbox via crafted HTML. TryFastAddDataProperty updates a deprecated transition map that can become a dictionary map, then writes through FastPropertyAtPut as if the map still used fast properties. A user must load the attacker's page; successful exploitation runs code inside the renderer sandbox but does not by itself escape that sandbox.
