Remote code execution via PWD stack overflow
Published Dec 12, 2025 · Updated Dec 12, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in PCMan FTP Server 2.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted PWD command. The PWD handler writes an oversized argument past a stack buffer; the published exploit reaches the saved return address after 2,007 filler bytes. The exploit uses anonymous FTP credentials and runs payload code with the FTP service process's privileges, while unsuccessful attempts can crash the service.
