Authenticated command execution via generatedocs host injection
Published Dec 11, 2025 · Updated Dec 11, 2025
OS command injection in the API module of FreePBX 16 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary shell commands. The generatedocs handler incorporates the POST host value into documentation-generation command processing without validating or escaping shell metacharacters. A valid FreePBX session, including a low-privilege extension session, is required; successful exploitation runs commands under the PBX service account.
