Expression evaluation via unneutralized form fields
Published Dec 11, 2025 · Updated Dec 11, 2025
Server-side template injection in Akaunting 3.1.8 allows remote authenticated administrators to evaluate expressions in saved form fields. Item and tax names, transaction descriptions, and vendor names accept double-brace expressions that the server evaluates instead of storing as literal text. Administrator access and a save operation are required; the public proof of concept demonstrates arithmetic and string evaluation, not operating-system command execution.
