CVE-2024-58288Public exploit

LocalSystem escalation via unquoted service executable path

Published Dec 11, 2025 · Updated Dec 11, 2025

Privilege escalation in GeneXus Protection Server 9.7.2.10 allows local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges. The ProtSrvService Windows service registers an unquoted executable path, so Windows can resolve and run an attacker-placed executable before the intended binary. Exploitation requires write access to a searched path location and execution of the service, after which the malicious file runs as LocalSystem.
