Authenticated command execution via media file upload
Published Dec 10, 2025 · Updated Dec 10, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Serendipity 2.5.0 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute server commands. The media upload handler accepts a multipart file named with an executable .inc extension and stores its PHP body in the web-accessible uploads directory without rejecting the dangerous type. Administrator credentials and PHP execution for the uploaded extension are required; successful exploitation provides arbitrary command execution under the web server account.
