Authenticated code execution via unrestricted file upload
Published Dec 10, 2025 · Updated Dec 10, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in appRain CMF 4.0.5 allows remote authenticated administrators to execute PHP code on the server. The /admin/filemanager/upload endpoint accepts a multipart file labeled image/jpeg with a .inc filename, stores it under /uploads/filemanager, and leaves embedded PHP executable. Administrative credentials are required; successful exploitation creates a remotely accessible web shell that runs commands with the web server's privileges.
