Arbitrary file write via malicious SQL training data
Published Jun 28, 2024 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
SQL injection in Vanna 0.3.4's DuckDB integration allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files through its Flask Web APIs. Malicious SQL training data steers query generation into DuckDB statements that write attacker-chosen contents to the server filesystem. The Flask interface must expose the affected integration; unauthenticated requests can plant a backdoor and obtain command execution with the service's permissions.
