CVE-2024-58264Network attack vector

Execution-context crash via unbounded recursive JSON parsing

Published Jul 27, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2025

Uncontrolled recursion in CosmWasm serde-json-wasm before 0.5.2 and in 1.0.0 allows attackers to crash consumers via deeply nested JSON. The deserializer recursively visits nested sequences, maps, and struct variants without tracking depth, exhausting the stack before parsing completes. Reachability requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled JSON to the crate; the resulting stack overflow terminates the affected execution context.
