CVE-2024-58238

Bluetooth transmission interruption via power-save race

Published Aug 9, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Denial of service in Linux kernel 6.4 through 6.6.48 and 6.7 through 6.8 allows local users to interrupt Bluetooth transmission. In btnxpuart_tx_wakeup(), an unsynchronized ps_state read can observe PS_STATE_AWAKE while UART break is being enabled, so wake work is not scheduled to clear the break. The condition requires an NXP UART Bluetooth device with power save enabled and HCI commands timed at the two-second sleep boundary; the resulting TX timeout blocks Bluetooth commands.
