CVE-2024-5815Network attack vector

Repository writes via incorrect request types

Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in GitHub Enterprise Server allows remote authenticated users to perform writes on victim-owned repositories. Repository request handling accepts incorrect request types when a victim visits a tag in an attacker's fork, allowing the victim's session to authorize the write. Exploitation requires a trusted server user, a fork of the victim's repository, and victim interaction with the crafted tag.
