System crash via unchecked NULL device lookup
Published Mar 6, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL-pointer dereference in the Linux kernel 6.7 through 6.12.13 and 6.13 through 6.13.2 allows local users to crash the system. Within npcm_video_ece_init(), of_find_device_by_node() can return NULL, but an IS_ERR() check treats that result as valid and the code dereferences the absent ECE platform device. The published assessment requires low-privileged local access, while the faulty path depends on Nuvoton video-capture hardware whose device-tree ECE device cannot be resolved.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
