Kernel crash via unchecked allocation failure
Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux HID multitouch allows local users to crash the kernel during multitouch device configuration. mt_input_configured stores the result of devm_kasprintf without checking for allocation failure, so a NULL device name is later dereferenced. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a failing allocation while a multitouch input device is configured; no data read or write is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
