Kernel warning via unchecked USB endpoint type
Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Endpoint type confusion in the Linux kernel allows local users to trigger a kernel warning through a crafted USB HID device. The hid-thrustmaster thrustmaster_interrupts path submits a bulk USB transfer using endpoint 1 without first verifying that the endpoint is interrupt-capable. Triggering occurs during device probing; the demonstrated result is a kernel warning, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
