Local kernel compromise via dangling SCM pointer
Published Feb 27, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in the Qualcomm SCM driver in Linux 6.11 through 6.12.12 and 6.13 through 6.13.1 allows local users to compromise the kernel. qcom_scm_probe publishes __scm before completing initialization, and a later probe failure frees the backing qcom_scm object without clearing the global pointer. The state requires a boot-time probe failure or deferral that local users cannot induce; subsequent SCM consumers can corrupt kernel memory or panic the kernel.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
