Kernel crash via unprotected zoned-disk bitmap replacement
Published Jan 11, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux 6.10 through 6.12.4 allows local users to crash the kernel during zoned-disk revalidation. The disk_zone_is_conv() helper reads disk->conv_zones_bitmap without RCU protection while revalidation can replace and free that bitmap. Triggering requires local low-privileged access, a zoned block device, and a race between bitmap revalidation and a concurrent zone check.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
