Admin code execution via ZIP path traversal
Published Jan 15, 2025 · Updated Aug 4, 2026
Path traversal in SimpleHelp 5.5.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with administrator rights to execute server-side code. The server's ZIP upload extraction accepts archive entry paths that escape the intended directory and writes attacker-supplied files anywhere on the host. Administrator access to the upload function is required; the resulting file write can install a Linux crontab or replace Windows executables or libraries, executing code as the SimpleHelp server user.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
