Unauthenticated file disclosure via toolbox-resource path traversal
Published Jan 15, 2025 · Updated Aug 4, 2026
Path traversal in SimpleHelp 5.5.7 and earlier allows unauthenticated remote attackers to read host files through crafted HTTP requests. The /toolbox-resource endpoint accepts parent-directory segments and resolves them outside its intended resource directories. No login or user interaction is required; exposed serverconfig.xml files disclose password hashes and, depending on configuration, LDAP credentials, OIDC secrets, API keys, and TOTP seeds.
