Unauthenticated repeater reconfiguration via authorization bypass
Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated Feb 3, 2025
Incorrect authorization in D-Link DIR-816 A2 firmware 1.10CNB05_R1B011D88210 allows remote attackers to reconfigure wireless repeaters. The form2RepeaterSetup.cgi handler accepts a crafted POST request without enforcing authentication before changing the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz repeater settings. Unauthenticated network access to the management interface is sufficient, and the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized configuration modification rather than code execution or service interruption.
