Database crash via unchecked hash-filler dereference
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 23, 2025
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open Source 7.2.11 allows attackers to crash the database via crafted SQL statements. The sqlg_hash_source function dereferences a null ot_hash_filler pointer while compiling a deeply nested CHECK constraint instead of rejecting the invalid optimizer state. The published reproducer invokes isql with the DBA account, while CISA scores exploitation as requiring no privileges; only a database process crash is demonstrated.
