Server crash via crafted SQL optimizer predicates
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open Source 7.2.11 allows remote attackers to crash the server via a crafted SQL UPDATE statement. During SQL compilation, nested predicates reach dfe_n_in_order through the query optimizer and trigger a crash; the public backtrace does not disclose the precise invalid operation. Network access to the SQL service and the ability to submit the statement are required, and the documented consequence is a database-server crash rather than data disclosure or modification.
