Database crash via crafted SQL expression
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open Source 7.2.11 allows remote attackers to crash the database via crafted SQL statements. The published proof of concept reaches jp_add while compiling a malformed UPDATE statement and terminates the server, but the root memory or arithmetic error is undisclosed. The SQL endpoint must accept attacker-supplied statements; the documented consequence is a process crash rather than data disclosure or modification.
