Database crash via crafted grouped INSERT query
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
SQL processing flaw in OpenLink Virtuoso Open Source 7.2.11 allows remote attackers to crash the database with crafted SQL statements. A crafted INSERT...SELECT using a CHECK subquery and GROUP BY CUBE reaches itc_set_param_row and crashes the process; the faulty operation inside that function is undisclosed. No user interaction is required; successful exploitation interrupts the database service without reported disclosure or modification of stored data.
