Database crash via crafted nested SQL
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 17, 2025
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open Source 7.2.11 allows remote attackers to crash the database with crafted SQL statements. The dfe_inx_op_col_def_table routine crashes while the SQL compiler lays out nested view, subquery, tuple, CASE, and arithmetic expressions; the invalid internal operation is undisclosed. Network access without prior privileges is sufficient, and successful exploitation interrupts database availability without reported data access or modification.
